I’m so happy and pleased DORA is coming to visit Whanganui for two weeks from 18 November 2024.
- DORA (Digital On-Road Access) is Digital Inclusion Alliance Aotearoa’s mobile learning centre. https://steppingup.nz/programmes/dora/
This year we have been focusing on helping people to learn popular online health apps such as Manage My Health, myindici 2.0, or The Doctors to access their health records. As well, we are helping people use Healthify He Puna Waiora. Healthify is Aotearoa New Zealand’s go-to website for trusted easy-to-understand health information and self-help resources.
DORA has certainly been going around for a long time. DORA started life in 1985 as a school bus in Gore.
- In 2012, after 27 years, DORA got converted into a mobile digital learning centre to help people in Christchurch communities so they could connect to the internet and communicate after the earthquake tragedy there.
- Since 2012, DORA has been going round and round Aotearoa New Zealand as a digital champion being used to help people learn digital skills and connect to the internet.
WOW – Over the past year to the end of June 2024, DORA helped 2,355 participants in 61 locations, over 11 regions around Aotearoa New Zealand.
- DORA and Digital Inclusion Alliance Aotearoa (DIAA) works collaboratively and respectfully – DIAA has over 350 partners NZ-wide.
- DORA is looked after by local drivers and tutors wherever DORA goes.
DORA has become a NZ icon
Not bad for an ‘old codger’ eh?
We reckon there is still ‘plenty in the tank’ to go yet too.
If you are around in Whanganui from 18 to 29 November 2024, come and visit us and learn how to become a Super Ager…
